The Coryell County District Attorney's Office employs one full time Chief Investigator and one Reserve Sergeant Investigator who are certified peace officers as defined in Article 2.12 of The Texas Code of Criminal Procedures.
These investigators are assigned to the District Attorney's Office and assist the prosecution staff in the preparation of criminal cases that occur within Coryell County. In addition, they conduct formal and internal investigations, conduct follow up leads and investigations directly for the District Attorney, serve criminal subpoena's, execute arrest warrants, take written statements, conduct interviews with victims, suspects and witnesses, maintain and control evidence, and assist law enforcement officers from within and outside jurisdictions on a case-by-case basis.
All investigators must be able to pass a semi annual firearms qualification course and maintain their continuing education training hours as mandated by the state licensing authority, TCLEOSE. Reserve Investigator positions must be approved by the County Commissioners. All Investigator's must attend and pass a 32 hour TLETS training class in order to be proficient with our TLETS terminal. The TLETS terminal uses the new windows based OMNIXX software replacing the old Legacy (DOS based) software.
